about
‘My Town, Your Town’ is an exploration into the loneliness of isolation and a celebration of the necessity of each other. Released on the two year anniversary of the marching band of life coming to a halt with the arrival of the covid pandemic, the song is an acknowledgment of what we’ve been through and a rally cry for human connection. The narrator can hear the marching band in his head but he can no longer see, touch or feel others in the world around him.
lyrics
On this cloudy morning the clouds are talking to each other
Talking about going somewhere else
But they’re not
They’re just hanging around
Just hanging around
My town is like your town
It’s kinda like a lot of other towns
Nobody is hangin around downtown anymore
Everyone’s staying home
Maybe just going to the store
My town is like your town
Its lot like a lot of other towns
Nobody's downtown hanging around
Everyones staying home you get to feeling a little bit alone
My Town
Is like your town
It like all the other towns
Everyone just sitting around
Sometimes you get to feeling down
Turn on the television radio
Trying to connect and compound
Sometimes we sit there scrolling
Searching for some kind of sound
Searching for some kind of common sound
My town is like your town it's a lot like all the other towns
No one’s hanging downtown
That's the place we’d go
When we wanted to be around some people we didn’t even have to talk to man
We could just be around town
But there is no town
When you can’t go downtown.
Out in the park
Out in the street
See a table
Grab a seat
My town is like your town
It’s like a all the other towns
Nobody’s downtown
Reminding each other
There is an each other
The only images we’re getting are through the screen
Forgetting what it’s like
To see, to touch, to feel
My jamboree is a lot like your jamboree
It’s a lot like a lot of others jamborees
So strange not to have someone hug you
Hug me
My jamboree is like your jamboree
It’s better than no jamboree
So we’re all kinda here can’t you see
Living this life of a tin can jamboree
Empty park
Empty street
Empty table
Empty seat
My town’s like your town
A lot like everyone else’s town
Nobody's downtown hanging around
Everyone is home and you get to feeling a little bit alone
From my town to your town
Across the ocean
the up and down
Antarctic and arctic
Depends where you’re standing
Which way is up and which is down
Australia Vietnam
Your town is like my town
All the other towns
Nobody’s hanging downtown
Forgetting what it’s like to be around
I don’t want to forget what it’s like to be around
I want to feel how it feels to be around
Don’t want to forget what it’s like to be around
Want to feel how it feels to be around
You used to meet people out on the street
Off to the bar some pal to meet
The ringleader, the squirrly needer
We all need some sort of acceptance to feel like we caught the bus
To feel like we’re us
Some people you know give exceptional acceptance
A wonderful circumstance if you got the change
But average acceptance is generally fine
How often can you open up your heart
Your gonna end up crying
Just the acceptance of you there, me here
Eating a sandwich, drinking a beer
Handsome man with a mustache, bank teller with a private stash
I don’t want to forget what it’s like to be around
My town is like your town it’s a lot like a lot of other towns
Want to feel how it feels to be around
Everybodys’ staying home, get to feeling a little bit alone
I don’t want to forget what it’s like to be around
My town is like your town it’s a lot like a lot of other towns
Want to feel how it feels to be around
No one’s hangin around
I don’t want to forget what it’s like to be around/My Town is like your town
/ It a lot like a lot of other towns
I want to feel how it feels to be around /no ones hanging downtown
I don’t want to forget what it’s like to be around/That’s the place we go when we wanted to be I want to feel how it feels to be around/ around someone we didn’t have to talk to man
I don’t want to forget what it's like to be around/ We just wanted to be around, town
I want to feel how it feels to be around/ But there is no town, when you can’t go downtown
